"Not touch the earth" erscheint auf "Waiting for the sun", dem dritten Album der Doors. Eigentlich war der Song Teil des siebenteiligen Gedichts "Celebration of the Lizard" – die Feier der Eidechse. (…).

Er ist einerseits ein Omnipotenzsymbol: Er könne die Erde ändern in ihre Bahnen und so weiter, er könne die blauen Autos verschwinden lassen, Polizeiautos nehme ich mal an.
